18-wheeler overturns, killing driver

An 18-wheeler driver was killed when his rig overturned, leaving a busy roadway closed for almost two hours Thursday morning.

The Louisiana State Police said Harry Sherman, 61, of Albany, died in the crash.

It happened on LA 64 east of LA 964 near Central around 5:30 a.m.

Troopers said Sherman turned too sharply in a curve.

They explained the force caused the rig to tip over, slide off the roadway and hit a private driveway.

Sherman was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office.

Authorities added he was not wearing a seatbelt.

It took almost two hours to get the crash cleared and the highway open again.
