Benefit concert for family of 23 whose home burned down set for Friday | Events
A benefit concert is being held to help a Baton Rouge family of 23 that lost everything in a fire on Saturday, Dec. 1. An account has also been opened.
Rev. Levie Wright Jr., pastor of Greater Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, is spearheading the event. The fire happened at 4245 West Brookstown Street at about 5 a.m. The home was completely destroyed. Members of the family included seven adults and the rest children ranging in ages from a few months to 17 years old.
"They lost everything but the clothes on their back," Rev. Wright tells 9News Neighborhoods. "We're asking people to donate whatever the Lord lays on their heart."
The concert will be held Friday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at Mt. Canaan, 5820 Evangeline Street, in Baton Rouge.
Donations of food, clothing, and money are welcomed. An account has been setup at Chase Bank in the pastor's name because the victims lost their identification. The account number of 2919072350.
