NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB)- A heat advisory has been issued for parts of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi for Tuesday. It will remain in effect until 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service in New Orleans reports high temperatures combined with high humidity levels will result in increased heat stress levels.

Forecasters said afternoon heat index values could reach up to 110 degrees into the early evening hours.

  • Iberville
  • Lafourche
  • Livingston
  • Pointe Coupee
  • St. Charles
  • St. Helena
  • St. James
  • St. John the Baptist

  • Tangipahoa
  • Terrebonne
  • West Baton Rouge
  • West Feliciana

 

MISSISSIPPI COUNTIES:

  • Amite
  • Hancock
  • Harrison
  • Jackson
  • Pearl
  • Pike
  • Walthall
  • Wilkinson

 

These conditions will likely persist through Wednesday.

A heat advisory means a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
