The Neighborhood Pet Market, 12871 Perkins Road, is hosting a jambalaya dinner and dog wash fundraiser for Spay Baton Rouge, a local non-profit dedicated to reducing the pet euthanasia rate in East Baton Rouge Parish. The fundraiser will be held on  Saturday, May 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fundraiser is open to the public. Jambalaya is $5 per box and the dog wash, which includes a flea bath, is by donation. A rabies tag is required for the dog wash services.

“Spay Baton Rouge sincerely thanks Neighborhood Pet Market for hosting the event, and helping us raise not only funds but awareness of our organization and its goals,” says Executive Director Sandra DiTusa.

Since 2006, Spay Baton Rouge and its partners have spayed and neutered 10,500 cats and dogs by offering low-cost spay and neuter services to people otherwise unable to afford the procedure for their pets.

Interesting find on Dyer Road Tuesday morning

Interesting find on Dyer Road Tuesday morning

There is no need to go to the swamps of Pierre Part to see an alligator. If you were driving on Dyer Road at the Comite River bridge in Central Tuesday morning, and you thought you may have seen an alligator, your eyes were not playing tricks on you.

This gator, estimated to be between four and five feet long, was not alive, but the person who took the picture said there were no signs of trauma, and had no idea on how the reptile died.

The viewer commented on how this will make her think twice about going swimming in the Comite River.
