SU offering EBR High School students free tickets to game tonight | Sports & Recreation
Southern University will kick off its season opener tonight, Thursday, in front of a national audience. The game against Mississippi Valley State will be televised on ESPN-U.
As part of its celebration, alumni are offering free tickets to East Baton Rouge Parish High School students.
Student must show a valid and current student ID. Southern is also encouraging those high school students who attend to wear their high school colors to the game.
The tickets are provided courtesy of Southern University Athletics.
"It's important that we let the surrounding community know what a vested interest Southern University holds in ensuring that the areas brightest high school students develop an interest in pursuing a degree at Southern University," said Dr. William Broussard, director of athletics.
"We hope to showcase some of the universities finest attractions to high school prospects through our 'EBR Show Your Colors Day' promotion, and we thank the EBR and Home Alumni Federation Chapters for their support of this program."
The two schools who have the most students in attendance will earn one $250 scholarship to be awarded to a student of the principal's choosing who is accepted to attend Southern University. The scholarships are courtesy of the EBR and Home Alumni Chapters.
Kickoff for Thursday's game is slate for 6:32 p.m. Fans are also asked to #StandUnited and wear Columbia blue apparel for Thursday's game.
