The Annual Jump Start Your Heart Valentine's Gala was held recently at the Renaissance Hotel in Baton Rouge.

Organizers are Dr. Steven Kelley and his wife Danielle Kelley.

The event raises money for research to enhance the quality of life of competitive athletes one by one through the dynamic power of identifying cardiovascular abnormalities and detecting the obstructive form of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This condition is the most common cause of sudden death in young athletes. Also, the money is used to  educate athletes, their families, athletic staffers, and the public as a whole on the importance of cardiovascular participation screening, heart disease, nutrition and exercise.
